Silentnight vs Slumberdown: Which Budget Duvet Wins?

Two value brands, two different pitches

Silentnight and Slumberdown both sell low-priced duvets to UK shoppers, and both cover the tog ratings most households need. They sell themselves differently. Silentnight leads with its name: its site calls it the "UK's most trusted sleep brand" and offers a "Lifetime product guarantee". Slumberdown leads with where and how its duvets are made: its duvets page lists "Family Owned", "Made in Britain" and "Certified Sleep Experts", and states that "All our duvets are made in the UK."

This comparison uses only what each brand's own duvet pages showed when we checked them on 5 October 2026. Prices change often, so treat them as a guide and check the live page before you buy.

The two ranges at a glance

Silentnight's duvet page listed 21 products. Slumberdown's duvets collection also listed 21. Both include summer, all-season and winter weights, an anti-allergy duvet and at least one natural or specialist filling.

Silentnight's B Corp status comes from its own blog, which announced that it is "now a Certified B Corporation", described as a certification "for businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental performance."

Cheapest duvets and prices

Both brands start below £20 for a single synthetic duvet. These are the "from" prices each site showed, which are usually for the smallest size:

The pattern: Silentnight has the single cheapest duvet in this comparison, its £16 Anti-Allergy Duvet. Slumberdown is cheaper across most of the middle of the range, where its all-season and winter duvets start around £18 against Silentnight's £26 to £30.

The tog range, side by side

Slumberdown's duvets page lets you filter by tog, and its filter list included 15 tog duvets and all-season sets at 13.5 and 15 tog. Its two most distinctive products are about flexibility:

• Made For You Two 4.5 / 10.5 TOG Duvet: described as a "Reversible dual-tog design", so each side of a double or king bed can have a different warmth.
• All Seasons 4.5 + 10.5 TOG Duvet: described as a "3-in-1 combination duvet". You use the 4.5 tog layer alone, the 10.5 tog layer alone, or both together.

Silentnight does not list a combination set on its duvet page. Its all-season product is the Airmax Duvet, described as an "All-season duvet with Airmax technology" with "Air mesh sides which increase airflow". Its warmest is the So Snug Winter Duvet, which it calls "Our warmest and cosiest duvet". Silentnight's tog guidance on the same page says 2.5 to 7 tog suits spring and summer, and 10.5 to 13.5 tog suits autumn and winter.

If you want one product that covers every season, Slumberdown's two-in-one or dual-tog duvets are the more direct answer. If you already know the tog you need, either brand covers it with a single duvet.

Fillings

Anti-allergy. Both brands sell an anti-allergy duvet with a named approval. Silentnight's Anti-Allergy Duvet is "Approved by the British Allergy Foundation" and "Filled with anti-allergy hollowfibre". Slumberdown says its Anti-Allergy range has "a specially formulated synthetic filling to help reduce dust mites and the build up of bacteria", and is "Approved by experts Allergy UK". So neither brand has an edge on endorsement.

Synthetic. Slumberdown says its synthetic fillings are "easy to care for, lightweight, non-allergenic", and that "a high proportion of these fillings are made from recycled plastic bottles." Its Climate Control range uses a treatment called Temperate Fibres, which it says is "Scientifically proven to draw excess moisture away from your body."

Natural. Silentnight's Duck Feather and Down Duvet is "Deeply filled with soft duck feathers and down" and described as "lightweight and breathable". Slumberdown says its natural fillings are "all feather or a mix of feather and down, either from duck or goose," and that "All our natural products are ethically sourced and fully certified."

Wool. Slumberdown sells a Wonderful Wool Duvet made from "100% British wool". Silentnight's duvet page did not list a wool duvet.

Guarantees and delivery

Silentnight shows a "Lifetime product guarantee" across its site, and a 5-year guarantee on its Hotel Collection Duvet and Coverless Luxury Washed Duvet Set. Delivery is free over £49.

Slumberdown's duvets page offers free standard delivery and does not show a guarantee period. It does state that "Not all of our products are suitable for machine washing and tumble drying", so check each care label.

Washing and sizes

Silentnight's page says most duvets are washable but you should check the care label, recommends washing a duvet "every 6-12 months", and advises air drying in a well-ventilated space. Slumberdown lists its four sizes as Single 135 x 200 cm, Double 200 x 200 cm, King 225 x 220 cm and Superking 260 x 220 cm.

When your old duvet wears out

Slumberdown's page says "Over 10 million duvets and pillows are sent to landfill each year in the UK", and points shoppers to recycling and reuse options rather than the bin. Your local council can tell you what it accepts.

Which to choose

• Lowest single price: Silentnight's Anti-Allergy Duvet at £16.
• Cheapest mid-range and winter duvets: Slumberdown, at around £18 against Silentnight's £26 to £30.
• One duvet for every season: Slumberdown's All Seasons or Made For You Two.
• Wool filling: only Slumberdown.
• Longest stated guarantee: Silentnight.
• Made in the UK: only Slumberdown states it.
